A South Korean tourist who visited Registan inquired with law enforcement officials about where to buy a ticket for entry to the historical site. They asked him for 50,000 soms and suggested he leave the money in an old trash bin behind the wall. One of the employees has since been dismissed.

South Korean tourist Pak Chun Hi published a video on the YouTube channel "Deno trip" about his visit to Samarkand. In the video, he mentioned that while searching for a ticket to visit the historical site, he encountered two law enforcement officers. One of them requested $5,000 from the tourist. The tourist clarified whether they meant 50,000 soms, and the officers confirmed that amount.

"Put the money in the basket and go," they said, pointing to several green trash bins behind a wall. The video was posted on September 14, 2024.

The tourist left the money in the designated spot, after which he stated in Korean: "They took a bribe."

To clarify the situation, Kun.uz reached out to the press service of the Samarkand Regional Department of Internal Affairs. According to their information, one of the officers was dismissed. No information was provided about the second officer.
