According to reports from the Department under the General Prosecutor's Office, cases of coal theft intended for heating social facilities have been identified in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Namangan region.
During a preliminary investigation conducted by the department's division in the Nukus district, it was found that the responsible individuals from LLC "N.A.", which supplies coal for heating social facilities under a public-private partnership agreement, misappropriated 2,514 tons of coal valued at 1 billion sums.
A similar investigation carried out by the department's management in the Namangan region revealed that the head of LLC "O.D." O.K. and others sold 609.9 tons of coal at inflated prices, amounting to a total value of 263.1 million sums, allocated for heating budget institutions in the Kasansay district during the autumn-winter period.
Criminal cases have been initiated on these facts under Article 167 of the Criminal Code (Theft by appropriation or embezzlement), and investigative actions are ongoing.
It was previously reported that in Namangan, 13 tons of coal intended for the population were stolen, and in the Samarkand region, the warehouse manager and a guard were detained for selling coal meant for distribution at subsidized prices to needy families.
