In Surkhandarya, a driver who misappropriated flour intended for export has been convicted of fraud. According to court documents, 33-year-old D.T., who rented a truck from a citizen named U.M., received a shipment valued at 93.75 million sums from a flour exporting company for delivery to the customs post.
However, instead of fulfilling his obligations, D.T. sold 500 bags of flour to residents of the Sherabad district at prices ranging from 100,000 to 150,000 sums per bag. In total, he earned 65 million sums, which he spent on online gambling, losing the entire amount.
During the trial, the driver admitted his guilt and explained that he intended to repay the money after winning but ended up losing. He also mentioned that he put his family's house up for sale to compensate for the damages.
The court found D.T. guilty of fraud under Article 168 of the Criminal Code (Fraud) and sentenced him to 3 years in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to pay 93.75 million sums to the company.
