Belarus will send a new ambassador to Uzbekistan on a special mission.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to Podrobno.uz, Alexander Lukashenko has appointed a new ambassador of Belarus to Uzbekistan. The diplomatic mission will be led by Alexander Ohorodnikov, who has previously held several deputy positions in the Ministry of Industry of Belarus.

The proposed candidate, Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhankov, explained the choice by stating that it is necessary to "strengthen important areas for Belarus with the most qualified personnel."

"In addition to our two major partners in foreign trade – Russia and China – we must enhance our relationships with the CIS countries. Among them, the big three stand out – Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan," added Dmitry Krutoy, head of the presidential administration.

President Lukashenko himself noted the "vast field of opportunities" in Uzbekistan.

It should be noted that there has been no announcement regarding the conclusion of the tenure of the former head of the Belarusian embassy, Leonid Marinich, who has been in Uzbekistan since 2018.
