Mirziyoyev urged international companies to participate in renewable energy projects in Central Asia.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke today at the "Abu Dhabi Sustainable Development Week." He emphasized that Central Asia is keen on collaboratively harnessing its immense potential in solar, hydro, and wind energy, as well as in the production of green hydrogen.

"Our region is rich in vast reserves of uranium and other crucial strategic raw materials. In this regard, we are prepared to offer our foreign partners the most favorable conditions," stated the president.

He particularly emphasized that the UAE is a reliable and strategic partner of Uzbekistan in the field of green energy. In recent years, the investment portfolio with the Emirates has exceeded 26 billion dollars. The driving force behind it includes projects in renewable energy.

"With today's organizer of the global summit – Masdar company, we have commissioned five power generation facilities with a total capacity of 1.5 gigawatts. Additionally, three projects to create generating capacities of 1.6 gigawatts will be implemented, along with energy storage systems with a capacity of approximately 520 megawatt-hours. We are also carrying out similar projects in collaboration with other leading companies from the Emirates, as well as partners from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and China," said Mirziyoyev.

According to preliminary estimates, Uzbekistan alone has the potential to produce 500 gigawatts of solar energy, 100 gigawatts of wind energy, and 10 gigawatts of hydropower. He urged leading research centers, experts, and scientists participating in our forum to actively collaborate with the newly established Green University in Tashkent on the implementation of research and innovation programs.

"I also propose to establish an International Research Network on combating land degradation and desertification based at this university," the president said.

He also informed international experts about the work and plans being carried out in Uzbekistan in the field of green development, inviting them to the Global Youth Festival of Digital Green Initiatives, which will take place in the Aral region on May 15 – International Climate Day.
