Shavkat Mirziyoyev extended his condolences to the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia following the plane crash in Aktau.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to Podrobno.uz, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has expressed his condolences to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin following the tragic loss of lives in the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane near the city of Aktau, as reported by a correspondent from Podrobno.uz.

"The head of our state has conveyed wishes for a speedy recovery to all those affected," the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

According to available information, there were 62 passengers and 5 crew members on board the Azerbaijan Airlines flight that was en route from Baku to Grozny this morning. Among the passengers were 16 Russians, 37 Azerbaijani citizens, six from Kazakhstan, and three from Kyrgyzstan.

Preliminary data suggests that at least 29 individuals survived. Possible causes of the crash include a collision with a flock of birds and technical malfunction.
