Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that the large-scale industry development program adopted three years ago is now yielding results. Approximately 1.5 million people have gained a stable income in this sector, and the volume of services has increased 3.5 times since 2018 – from 19 to 65 billion dollars.
There has been a particularly significant jump in the fields of IT, financial services, tourism, aviation, education, and healthcare. Specifically, the number of private clinics in Uzbekistan has tripled over the past seven years.
However, there are obstacles in the development of private healthcare. Entrepreneurs face various challenges, and clinic owners are dissatisfied with certain aspects. For example, the process of registering imported medical equipment from recognized foreign manufacturers can take up to six months. In this regard, the president proposed simplifying the certification procedure for medical equipment imported from abroad.
Furthermore, entrepreneurs in the healthcare sector spend an unreasonable amount of time obtaining accreditation to open a local medical laboratory. According to the president, there are about ten entrepreneurs in each region of the country ready to invest one million dollars in establishing a laboratory.
It is worth noting that, according to the Ministry of Health at the end of last year, one-third of medical institutions and hospital beds in Uzbekistan are privately owned.
