Timur Ishmetov has been appointed as the head of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis has decided to appoint Timur Ishmetov as the new chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

In this position, he replaced Mamariyzo Nurmuratov, who was dismissed today at the proposal of Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Ishmetov is 45 years old and is a graduate of the Tashkent Financial Institute, the University of Birmingham, and the Tashkent State Law Institute.

His career began in 2000 at the Central Bank as an economist. He spent 19 years there, holding various positions. Notably, from 2017 to 2019, he served as the First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank.

From 2019 to 2020, he was the First Deputy Minister of Finance, and from 2020 to 2022, he served as the Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan. Prior to his new appointment, he was the First Deputy Advisor to the President on issues related to the development of economic sectors, investments, and the implementation of foreign trade policy.
