Criminal liability has been established for bribing participants and organizers of sports competitions.

The President has signed a law titled "On Amendments to the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan Aimed at Preventing Corruption in Sports."

According to the document, the Criminal Code has been amended with Article 214-1, which establishes liability for participants and organizers of sports competitions for the illegal acquisition of material values or the obtaining of property benefits.
This crime is punishable by a fine ranging from 50 to 100 BRV or the deprivation of a certain right for up to 3 years, or restriction of freedom for 1 to 3 years, or imprisonment for 1 to 3 years.
Additionally, Article 214-2 introduces criminal liability for bribing participants and organizers of sports competitions.
The penalties under this article include a fine from 100 to 300 BRV or deprivation of a certain right for 3 to 5 years, or restriction of freedom for 1 to 3 years, or imprisonment for 1 to 3 years.
