Previously, we wrote that the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) announced the postponement of the Youth Asian Games, originally scheduled for 2025 in Tashkent, to Bahrain due to the fact that the construction of the Olympic Village in Tashkent will not be completed on time.
The National Olympic Committee (NOC) reported that there were delays in the supply of necessary materials for the construction of the Olympic Village due to restrictions in the post-pandemic period, which consequently shifted the deadlines for putting the facilities into operation.
It was noted that the NOC approached the OCA with a request to postpone the games by one year.
“However, since the Olympic sports competitions within the framework of the Youth Asian Games serve as a qualifying stage for the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar in 2026, the OCA emphasized the importance of holding the games in 2025.”
As a result, the right to host the III Youth Asian Games was transferred to Bahrain. The OCA also recommended that Uzbekistan focus on preparations for organizing major international events, such as the Islamic Solidarity Games or the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games,” - the statement reads.
