Apple Inc. has begun exploring the market for smart glasses, considering a potential entry into this growing product category, where Meta Platforms Inc. is already operating, reports Bloomberg.

The project, codenamed Atlas, was launched last week and involves gathering feedback from company employees regarding existing models of smart glasses on the market, according to sources familiar with the situation. Additional focus groups are planned soon to better understand user expectations. The research is being conducted by employees of Apple’s Product Systems Quality division, which is part of the company’s hardware engineering department.

Such moves may indicate Apple’s intention to expand its lineup of wearable devices by adding its own smart glasses.
