The company BYD has announced its entry into the humanoid robotics market and has launched an international campaign to recruit specialists for its research group, Embodied Intelligence.

BYD is inviting master's and doctoral students from top universities around the world, who are set to graduate in 2025, for positions as senior algorithm engineers, designers, and modeling specialists. The focus is on advanced research in bipedal and humanoid robots.

The BYD research group is dedicated to developing innovative robotic systems, including industrial, mobile, and humanoid robots, with the aim of accelerating the integration of AI into the industry.

At BYD's recent 30th anniversary, which coincided with the launch of its ten millionth new energy vehicle, the company chairman announced plans to invest $13.73 billion in AI and innovations.

Previously, BYD collaborated with Ubtech Robotics, resulting in the implementation of the humanoid robot Walker S1 at its facilities. This robot, standing 1.72 meters tall and weighing 76 kg, is capable of lifting up to 15 kg and working in conjunction with automated systems.

Ubtech Robotics is already working with automakers such as Dongfeng, Geely, FAW Hongqi, and Audi FAW, and has received over 500 orders for the Walker S. The robots perform tasks related to inspection, quality control, and labeling.
