The American space agency NASA has released an impressive image of the star cluster NGC 2264, which resembles a Christmas tree.
The image was created using data obtained from the Chandra X-ray Observatory and the optical telescope of astrophotographer Michael Clow. The spectra of red, violet, blue, and white colors were captured by Chandra, while the green hues were added by Clow's telescope.
The cluster, also known as the "Snowflake Cluster," was discovered by astronomer William Herschel in 1784. It is located 2,500 light-years away from Earth and consists of young stars that are less than five million years old.
